Thomas J. Harries was born in Carmarthenshire. ‘TJ’ moved to London and worked first at Wallis of Holborn and then as a buyer at D H Evans, Oxford Street.
He opened his own shop at 260 Oxford Street in either 1885 or 1887.
Harries’ business was successful and after ‘TJ’ died in 1902 it was purchased from the administrators of his estate by a newly formed public company T J Harries and Co Ltd (1902).
In 1928, TJ Harries was absorbed into the John Lewis Partnership.
T J Harries became known as the ‘East House’ of John Lewis, an extension of the original shop.
This catalog includes women's clothing, accessories – it is promoted as being “Christmas Presents.
The catalog is not dated, but Item C89 “Cabinet size Calendar” shows a January 1910 front sheet.

CONDITION
This 112 year old catalog is complete - Staples are firm.
Good overall condition with edge & spine wear, including a couple of ½” edge tears.
Some soiling to the covers.
