Bio-Balance Caribbean Sand is colonized with beneficial bacteria for reef aquariums. Never needs to be replaced. Bio-Balance Caribbean Sand is packed with millions of these good bacteria to help replicate a natural reef habitat. Bio-Balance Caribbean Sand is specifically formulated for coral reef aquariums. Contains the right mix of autotrophic, chemolithotrophic and heterotrophic bacteria to help in reef tanks waste reduction without any chemicals reducing ammonia and filtering nitrates in a natural way. Contains calcium, carbonate and other trace elements to help maintain the correct ph balance. Bio-Balance Caribbean Sand contains live argonite which also helps in maintaining proper nitrate and pH levels. Our substrates are beneficial for bacteria colony growth. Bio-Balance Caribbean Sand is a substrate that helps create a welcoming environment to any reef. Use 1.5lbs per reef tank gallon of salt water. You want from 1”-1.5” substrate depth for proper exchanges and bacterial colonies to thrive well. Add a few janitors like blue legged hermit crabs, jawfish, gobies and shrimps. Always consider tank residents before adding any janitor species.
